My new favorite thing.

Ahh Van Gogh. I’m really unfamiliar with his work, but I saw this in high school and I thought it was too cool. I know, I’m really profound. But I think art doesn’t necessarily need to provoke some deep emotional feeling. I just like the way it looks/feels.
This is “Skull of a Skeleton with Burning Cigarette” (1885-86) by Vincent Van Gogh.

Throwback Thursday! Ha, I think every Thursday I’ll post a song from my musically formative years (we’ll say 9th-12th grade).
I really loved this band because they’re from Minnesota. I don’t know, there’s something special about local bands. Admittedly, they’re not the best band production-wise, but their lyrics tend to be really simple but very emotive. Which is right up my alley.
My clearest memory of listening to this song was during my orchestra trip the summer after my junior year of high school. We were driving from San Francisco back up to Minnesota, and apparently we drove through Omaha. It was really late at night (probably around midnight) and a bad storm had just passed through the city. We stopped at a HyVee to get food and whatnot. Someone woke me up and told me that we were in Omaha, so I thought I’d listen to this song. Just so fitting.

Shopping.
My blogging has been lazy and sporadic at best over the past month. Sorry! I’m probably the most inconsistent person I know. I give up too easily. But hopefully I’ll be able to stay on the ball with this blog.
I hate shopping in real life, but the internet has kindly afforded me an alternative. While looking at the Gap and similar stores online can be kinda fun, for me, the best thing is finding those crazy online boutiques and specialty stores that real life can’t offer me.
Here is a list of my favorite places to look around at:
1. Asos. Holy buckets. I really wish someone would’ve told me about this store years ago. They have EVERYTHING. A lot of it is pretty high-end, but you can find some great pieces on clearance or at least super cheap. I really love this sweater:

2. Modcloth. This one has a lot to offer. It’s pretty hit or miss, though. And it can be pretty expensive. But I’ve found some really cute things there. Also, I won a wallet from them. I just checked out the dresses section a few minutes ago and instantly fell in love with this dress. It’s longer than their dresses usually are, which is perfect for a strict dress code:

3. Topshop. A little more pricey, but I can at least draw inspiration from their clothes. I was very close to ordering this sweater, but shipping is so dang expensive. I didn’t think it was worth it. But it’s adorable:

4. Olive Shoppe. Alright. A little crazy. And hella expensive. But I’ve found so many things that I would love to own. For example, check out these sweet pants and tell me they’re not super badass:

There you have it. A roundup of some cool things for you to check out.
